But seriously

Hello...again.... yes I know, 2 posts within a week, heck 2 posts within a month is odd for me. I have to have some random place to rant, it's 1:34 a.m. and everyone who would listen to me complain has signed off AOL. I have come to the conclusion that sports has to great of an affect on my moods. 2 great examples of this just happened. I'm a huge Notre Dame fan and they blew a lead against USC in the final minute, and lost the game with 3 seconds remaining on the clock. I was crushed. I was actually depressed for the rest of the night! Poor Whitney has become my therapist haha. After that I didn't think it could get any worse, but oh it did on Monday night. See, I'm a huge Houston Astros fan. Roger Clemens is on the team, and wherever Clemens goes, that's where I hang my allegiance. Well anyways, Houston was up 3 games to 1 in the National League Championship Series. They took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning. Their lights out Closer Brad Lidge made the first 2 batters look pathetic. Then something happened. David Eckstein got a base hit, Jim Edmonds drew a walk, and in stepped Albert Pujols. His first swing looked horrible. First of all, It's ALBERT PUJOLS! Walk him and face Reggie Sanders, it's the smart thing to do. I am convinced if they did that I'd be celebrating in this Blog. Instead we pitched to Pujols, on Lidge's very next pitch Pujols did the unthinkable. He crushed it, I mean this was not just any home run here, this quieted over 40,000 people and it probably would've traveled a good 40,000 miles. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=251017118. There is the link to the gawdawful details of the game. Final score Houston 4 Cardinals 5. I sat in silence for an hour. I didn't know what to do, I was sick, sweating and in total shock. So the Astros go back to St. Louis up 3 games to 2, this same thing happened last year when the Cardinals found a way to win both games. Seriously.......this could really ruin the weekend if the same thing happens....... Here's hoping the Astros close it out in game 6.....until then, Peace out and keep it real, Live Long

A new short update

I just typed out a whole post, and then the computer froze. So I'm just doing a quick update. I'm alive, and absolutley nothing new has happened since my last new post, well some new things, but I'll add that in here some other time. Right now Dave is dancing and singing "My hump" by Black eyed peas. It is truly scary. In fact, I have to leave. So until next time, everyone have a good one. Peace out and keep it real, Live Long

Michigan State!!!

What a great night... I could care less what happens for the rest of the night.. See, I had a few bets on the Michigan State vs. Duke game. Of course I had Michigan State winning the game, and they pulled through! 78-68. So I have to wake up early and go to class at 9 on Monday....but I don't actually have class till 3. See, my bet with Amy involved a jersey, so she has to wear my Michigan State jersey for the whole day :). I'll be armed with a Digital Camera. SWEET! She'll look so good in a Michigan State Jersey :). In fact I might have to post a picture of it for all to see! I also had one more bet on the game, $5 with a fellow #22 Amber Holsworth. Really the bragging rights are worth the most in the bet, but I'll take the $5 :). To top the end of the games off, CBS ran a Locusts promo. It ends with them saying... they're coming! OH NO! LOCUSTS!!!! Like a swarm of locusts have never been to areas. This show should rank quite high on the unintentional comedy scale. A definte must see for a few good laughs. Alright, definetly time to celebrate! GO STATE!!! Peace out and keep it real, Live Long.

Michigan State vs. Duke

Well the match-up I wanted has happened. Michigan State vs. Duke Friday night at 7:10. I have $5 on the game, and a day of jersey wearing. If State wins my good friend Amy has to wear a Michigan State jersey to school for the whole day. Man, this would be sweet! I'd be sure to take many pictures of this and make copies for a few people....haha. But on the downside, I must realize that Michigan State could lose. Which would mean I'd have to wear a Duke jersey for the whole day......luckily I'm only at the PEIF for a little while on Mondays :). Anyways, I'll either be enjoying the game on a big screen, or if CBS pulls out the Wisconsin vs. N.C. State game on us, I'll be heading up the Hudsons Classic Grill to cheer on the Spartans. This NCAA tournament has been great. We have a 12 seed, a 10 seed, 3 #6 seeds, and a 7 seed and 2 # 5 seeds in the sweet 16. How sweet is that! This tourney has been one to remember.
Really, besides that, nothing exciting to update ya on.......Peace out and keep it real, Live Long

And the Madness Continues!

Wow! What a night! We get what we think is the biggest upset of the Tournament. Vermont defeats Syracuse (many tv analysts had Syracuse in the final four!). What a game! Vermont a # 13 seed wins by 3 in OT. Of course, CBS has to ruin the ending of this game for us. Instead, up here in the Midwest, we got to watch the whole Wisconsin vs. Northern Iowa game. Excuse me, but there's 3.5 seconds left and Northern Iowa is down by 5 and they're imbounding it at the other end of the court! THERE IS NO WAY TO TIE THIS GAME, IT'S OVER! So what should they do? Of course it's simple, let us watch the final 15 seconds of the Vermont vs. Syracuse game... no, instead we watch the end of NI vs. UW. In fact, we get to see Vermont inbounding the ball and winning the game?! WHAT HAPPENED! Oh sure, in about 20 seconds we see the replay of the final 15 seconds, thanks CBS, great move. So if that upset wasn't enough, we even get to see the rare, 14th seed over a #3 seed! Bucknell, yes Bucknell defeats Kansas! WOW! Is this great or what! CBS luckily allows us to see the final minute of this game, I guess they finally learned what the audience really wants to see after about a million years of screwing endings up. More importantly though, Michigan State defeated Old Dominion tonight. So it's Michigan State vs. Vermont in round 2. Should be a well faught game, GO STATE! Until next time, stay up to date with the Madness that is the NCAA Tournament! Peace out and keep it real, Live Long.

March Madness!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Yes March Madness is in full swing. If you don't have your brackets filled out shame on you! This is a time of the year when everyone shares a common interest, I was even talking to my physiology teacher about the brackets today, seriously, we talked for about 15 minutes about which teams are really playing well heading into the tournament. Turns out he's an Illinois grad, so of course he's had a great year with them only losing 1 game this whole year. This made for some interesting moments seeing as how I'm a diehard Michigan State fan, so of course since they're both in the Big Ten they are rivals. Anyways, I even ended up having to give him a score update on all the games that were played at 12 because he had been in class the whole day. Really the NCAA Men's (and women's) Basketball tournament is great. The athletes decide who the champion is, not some coaches, press writers and a few computers (ahem College Football wake-up! No one likes the BS, oops I mean BCS!). Really today there were 16 games, we got to see UW-Milwaukee take it to a bigger SEC school in Alabama, the #'1 played somewhat weak, the #2's played like, well a #2, the team that was probably the most impressive was, well no one was really impressive today. No buzzer beaters, only 2 games decided by less than 5 points. But the best thing is.....16 more games on Friday! 8 games on Saturday, and 8 games on Sunday! What can be better than that! No need to answer that. So of course I filled out 2 brackets in the House Pool, I am the Back-to-Back Champion....but I can honestly say that is going to end this year. I have no confidence in my picks. Last year, you knew UCONN was going to win, the year before, Kansas and Syracuse were safe bets. This year, well Illinois is weak down low and they are streaky, UNC has all the talent in the world but for some reason they can't put together a whole game, Washington is weak down low and Duke isn't deep enough. So there are reason against the #1 seeds. So of course I kept that in mind filling out my bracket. While filling out my bracket I kept those reasons in mind, but then I did the cardinal sin of bracketology, I let the fact that I'm a MSU fan into the decision making. Who has Michigan State (a #5 seed) in the final four! Yeah, that's me. Great pick. Well, I figure, they should beat Old Dominion (but this would be a classic 12-5 upset, so I'll be holding my breath) and they match-up really well with Syracuse, so that was a push for me, and I'm State fan so advantage State. This would lead to a match-up with Duke. Yes, Duke won earlier in Cameron, but State shot rotten at the FT line, and it was at Duke (that court is a 10 point advantage because of the tradition and that crowd). Also, this will be game #3 for both teams, and I think State is deeper. I think they'll be able to wear Duke out. Plus I have a bet with my ATR advisor Amy Labelle on this game. If State wins, she has to wear a State jersey for the whole day! HAHA! Of course...gulp, if State loses, I have to wear a Duke Jersey for the whole day. I can just see it, she's a life Duke fan so she could pull out some bizarre jersey like Steve Wojo, Bobby Hurley, Danny Ferry, or dare I say.....Christaen Laettner.....I would throw up if I had to wear that one. It's all in good fun though, so hopefully they get to play. Anyways, back to the brackets, I'm not quite sure who will pull through this year, I have UNC, along with about 5 other people. The other popular pick is of course Illinois. The Sports Guy, Mr. Simmons really hasn't told us who he figures will be cutting down the nets, or maybe I just missed it. If you don't know who the Sports Guy is, go here... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/simmons/index. If I could have his job, I'd gladly take it for a day. I wouldn't be able to pull off his interesting articles, which would anger the masses of sports fans that religiously go to his page, but nonetheless it would be a great gig. For the Ncaa Tournament he has decided to do a running diary. His running diaries are classic. The Super Bowl Diary was great, the Sox Series Diary was amazing and this is turning out the same way. This idea has even moved on to other people, for instance, our trip to my friend James' wedding in Minneapolis was captured by Lee Richards Trip Diary, which was priceless.

Besides that, my life has been pretty dull since my last update. Traveled with the B-ball team to Saginaw, Lake State, and Ferris State. I really enjoy the trips, seriously, free hotel room, free meals, hanging out with everyone, and best of all...FREE BASKETBALL. How can you go wrong with that. Seriously. Some people hate traveling with the teams, but I really like the experience and enjoy getting to know people from the other training staffs. Although these trips caused me to fall behind in a few classes, but I'm all caught up now.

Now that I've pointlessly blabbed for a good while, I'll go back to studying for my final Physiology Make-up exam. This Blog proves people will find just about anything to do to distract themselves from studying, it is now 3:22a.m., exam -6 hours and 38 minutes......
Peace out and Keep it real, Live Long

Urban Sledding

Well this past Tuesday, I finally got to go Urban Sledding, or power sledding, I've heard it said quite a few different ways. You tie a rope behind a vehicle, get on a sled, and hold on! We keep the speed under 35 mph. It's quite fun. You weave back and forth behind the vehicle, getting up on the snowbanks when ya can. I think me and my Buddy James are going to make it a yearly tradition when he comes up from the cities to visit. We also had a flashback to high school. I went in the ditch for the first time with my new explorer, in High School though, it was always us digging him out of a ditch. I tried to do a 360 with the new explorer. Unlike the old one, the 4X4 kicks in automatically in this one, so about 120 degrees into my 360, I just stopped and continued sliding in that position. Right into a snowbank. I was so far in that the hood on the passenger side was just about under snow. The front passenger wheel wasn't even touching the ground. It the 4 of us a good hour to get it out, with James, Jacob and their friend doing the most work. I just got to spin the tires and hope that it'd drive out. When we got back from that expedition it was immediately time for a Sauna! For all those people out there that haven't experienced a Sauna, you's don't know what you're missing. I wish I had one at my house. When I get a camp, that's going to be the most important addition. As my grandparents used to say, if a Sauna doesn't cure it, it's not curable. Anyways, Christmas was ok, and New Years was a blur. As the song says, maybe this year will be better than the last. Well I'm out like the gout. Peace out and keep it real, Live Long.
